The purpose of this study is to investigate and examine the daily learning methods adopted by the students in the Department of Tourism Business of this college, focusing on the changes in the scores between a test taken immediately after completing a unit and the same test taken after a while. I also conducted questionnaire and interview surveys, and examined the relationship between a score transition and a learning method from the viewpoint of meaningful learning and rote learning.
The score differences between the immediate and delayed tests showed that knowledge outside class and opportunities to review the subject are related to the retention of learned contents. In addition, by using the questions on the Tohoku and Hokkaido regions, I conducted similar immediate and delay tests, and large differences in the score transition could be observed in these two regions, and there was also a large difference depending on whether the students have prior knowledge on those regions that could help them preserve the learned contents.
